Your Daddy and I slept fairly well Saturday morning once we got settled into our room and we got you back from the nursery with us! We literally couldn't go to sleep though until our eyes closed because we didn't want to miss a moment of being with you! You were so sweet sleeping in your bassinet by my bedside! Daddy made a bed out of one of the chairs. You woke up once to nurse and did okay with that. I got up early because the nurse came to get you to take you to the nursery around 6:30 so you would be there when the doctor made his rounds around 7:00. I buzzed the nurse and asked if I could take a shower, but she told me to wait a few more hours. Around 7:30 the doctor came to the room. I had fallen back asleep and it scared me! I thought you had been gone way too long but it was only an hour! The doctor was from Grand Strand Pediatrics. He was really nice! He confirmed that you are absolutely perfect and everything looked really good!
You came back to the room about 10 minutes later! We were so excited! You ate a little bit. Had a little bit of a hard time nursing, but you eventually got it. The nurse came in around 8:00 and told me that I could shower. It felt so good to get CLEAN!
Your Cak and Paw Paw came down around 8:30. They didn't get to hold you the night before because it was so late, so we called the grandparents early and told them to come see you before everybody else started coming in. They stayed about an hour and just snuggled with you. They think you are just precious!
Nana Barbara and Aunt Kati came down around 10:00 to see you! They held you and cuddled with you as well.
Here are your other visitors from the day:
Jennifer and Bud Sarvis
Sarah and Hunter Johnson
Marc and Andrew Buffkin
Natalie and Addison Buffkin
Aunt Pat McDaniel
Twila, Bryson, and Keith Daniels
Krystal Causey
Jerry Phillips
You did okay nursing throughout the day. You have a hard time getting started and don't really want to work hard to get the colostrum out, but you do okay. Hopefully you will get better!
We spent our time without visitors just enjoying being with you. We are still in awe that you are finally here! You capture our hearts more and more each minute of the day!
We got to enjoy your bathtime tonight in the nursery. We asked if we could go in and watch, so they let us. You seemed to enjoy your bath. I was scared that I was going to tear off the piece of umbilical cord left on your belly button! The nurse assured me no worries, it wasn't going anywhere!
Paw Paw and Cak came back this evening to see you. You were awake part of the time they were here. They brought Mommy a frosty....it was sooo good! We watched TV with them until bedtime! I have to say, we were EXHAUSTED!
You had a rough second night. I'm not sure if it was the frosty, or a combination of the frosty and the fact that when you came back from the nursery tonight, you had a paci in your bassinet. I was a little upset that the nurses had given you a paci without asking me. I felt like you needed a little more time learning to nurse before you got a paci.
You spent most of your night crying. You didn't want to nurse good. A few of the nurses came in to help me, but were unsuccessful. I'm not sure they know what they are doing. They keep telling me you are a lazy latcher and sucker and don't want to work for the food before my milk comes in and I tend to agree, but they don't seem to be able to help me to get you to latch on better. We have tried every position available and you end up screaming. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep tonight and I was more than frustrated with their help! They have been phenomenal with all other areas, but nursing isn't one of them!

We got up early from what little sleep we got! The nurses came to get you around 6:30. The doctor came around about 7:30. He told us that he was going to release you to go home today! He said that you had a little bit of jaundice and we had to schedule you a follow up appointment at the pedicatrician office tomorrow. He said it didn't look bad and was probably because my milk hadn't come in yet.
You came back to the room and ate a little. It was a huge fight to get you to eat this morning. I got really frustrated with the nurses and the fact that you weren't eating good. Your Daddy said we could stay an extra day if we wanted to, but I didn't think the nurses would be able to help me any more and I was ready to take you home!
Dr. Nelson came around at 8:30 and told me that she was releasing me to go home as well! YAY!
We got ready and started getting you ready. One of Daddy's friends, Stacy Bazen came by to see you for a little while! He has three little girls of his own! He thought you were just precious! He knows all too well about Daddy's little girls!
I had to go to a "going home" class and your Daddy and I had to watch a SIDS and Infant CPR video before we could leave.
The nurses brought our discharge papers to sign to us around 12:30pm.
We got you dressed in your precious outfit and we were ready to come home! The nurses wheeled me out to the car. Daddy was waiting on us! You were soo TINY in your car seat! You didn't take up hardly any of it! In fact, I had to hold your head up because the way the car seat sits in the car had you slanted forward too much and you were uncomfortable! You were sooo cute! You slept all the way home!
We can't wait to get you to your new house and to have you home with us!!! We love you more than you'll ever know!
